WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 27, 2010) - Forward Amber Heistan led the Rollins women's basketball team with 16 points and eight rebounds in the 2009-10 regular season finale with a 68-51 victory over the Eckerd Tritons, Saturday afternoon at Warden Arena.

With the win, Rollins ends the regular season with a 19-8 record and 11-5 conference record heading into the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The Tars secured the second seed and will host Wednesday's first round game.

Heistan's 16 points marked her 19th double-digit performance of the season for Rollins. Heistan, second on the team in scoring with 278 points, increased her points per average to 10.3.

Senior forward Brittainy Daiger finished with 15 points and was two rebounds shy of a double-double as she hauled in eight boards. Daiger leads the team in both categories as she's scored 283 points on the season, a career-best, and has collected 156 rebounds.

Heistan was 4-of-5 from 3-point range to pace the Tars offense. Rollins shot 44.4 percent (8-for-18) from beyond the arch and shot 45.6 percent from the floor.

Sophomore guard Kourtnie Berry led the way in assists with eight, while Daiger was the team-high in steals with four.

Rollins received 19 points off the bench as Tera McDaniel and Jessica Barker paved the way with five points each. The Tars also scored 17 points off of 17 Triton turnovers en route to the blowout victory.

For the Tritons, who end their season with a 10-15 record and 4-12 in conference, were led by Kati Rausberg's 16 points. Ashley Lutz and Krystal Charles rounded out the Eckerd scorers in double-digits with 12 and 10 respectively.

Rollins raced out on a 9-2 run to kick off the opening minutes of the game. After maintaining the advantage over the next four minutes, Eckerd sparked an 8-0 run to take its first lead of the game at 17-16 with 9:19 remaining.

The Tars answered with a Daiger jumper and back-to-back Heistan 3-pointers to build the lead back to seven. Rollins continued to apply pressure and went into the break leading by 12 at 33-21, closing out the half on a 16-4 run.

In the second half, Rollins proved to be too much as it never relinquished its double-digit lead.

Rollins continued its reign in the all-time series as they now possess a 63-10 advantage over Eckerd and have captured 15 games in the previous 16 meetings.

Prior to the start of the game, the Tars honored their three seniors, Daiger, Barker and Jessica Pressley for their time and commitment over the past four years.

The Tars' Sunshine State Conference Tournament opening game will be determined after the conclusion of the Saturday evening games. Rollins will host the first contest, Wednesday, March 3 at 5:30 p.m. Fans will be able to catch all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network.
