MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (February 10, 2010) - The Rollins women's basketball team dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season after a 63-55 loss to Barry, Wednesday.

Rollins falls to 15-7 on the year and drops to third place in the Sunshine State Conference with a record of 7-4. Barry improves to 17-5 and takes over sole possession of second place in the SSC at 8-3.

Amber Heistan hit four, 3-pointers and led three Tars in double-figures with 14 points, while also pulling down seven rebounds. Paris Moore netted 11 points while Jasmine Bradley added 10 points.

The Tars shot just 36 percent (20-of-55) from the field while the Buccaneers hit 43 percent (21-of-49). Rollins won the battle on the boards, outrebounding Barry 34-32 and forced 17 Bucs turnovers.

Tilde Ahlin hit four, 3-pointers and led Barry with 16 points. SSC leading scorer Mariesa Greene tallied 14 points, while Shaunna Suttington notched 12.

Neither team could gain the upper hand in the early going with four straight points from Brooke Burgess giving Rollins a 17-12 point lead halfway through the opening period. Barry tied the score on the next two possessions and the teams again traded baskets for the next five minutes, leading to a 22-22 tie with five minutes to play in the half.

A Jasmine Bradley layup and Kristina Mingos 3-pointer gave the Tars a five point lead, but the Bucs ended the period on a 10-2 run and took a 32-27 lead into intermission.

Barry extended the gap to as much as seven early in the second half, but Rollins countered with a 9-0 run later in the frame, punctuated by a Heistan triple, and gained a 47-44 with 10 minutes to play.

Barry answered by putting together a 10-0 run over the next three minutes and pushed the lead back to seven, 54-47. After closing to within two in the final five minutes, Rollins couldn't get over the hump and suffered their fourth league loss of the season.

Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, February 13 at 2 p.m., hosting conference leader Tampa in the Warden Arena. Fans can catch the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM, WPRK.
