HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (May 8, 2009)-
The Rollins softball team spilt games with West Florida and the
University of Alabama-Huntsville Friday evening by score of 3-2 and
8-5.
The Tars started off their NCAA Tournament run with a solid win
against West Florida in their opening game. Nicole
Anderson collected her 27th victory of the season to go along
with 13 strikeouts. Anderson currently needs 10 strikeouts to
capture the SSC conference record of 1,209.

Meadows led the Tars offense as each collected one RBI apiece.
Meadows drove in the game winning run in the bottom half of the
seventh inning to give Rollins a 3-2 victory.
With the win Rollins improves to 47-8 on the season and moves one
step closer to capturing a regional crown.
With the opening game in hand the Tars moved onto the No. 5 team in
the country and No. 1 seed in the tournament,
Alabama-Huntsville.
After surrendering a first inning home run, the Tars responded by
posting five runs in the second inning. Offensively Monica
Meadows and Rachael
Foster each collected two RBIs and Kristina
Holland chipped in one RBI.
Rachael
Foster held that lead until the Chargers scored four in the
bottom half of the fifth inning. After the two teams went scoreless
for two innings, the Chargers broke the tie in the bottom half of
the seventh as they scored three runs on a home run by Emily
Roach.
With the loss Rachael
Foster falls to 17-4 on the season and the Tars fall to 47-9
overall. Rollins also is one game away from elimination. The Tars
will play the winner of the West Florida/Miles College game
tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. central time.
