SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 7, 2009) – Rollins
closed out their 2009 Sunshine State Conference season with an 8-1
win over Saint Leo on a windy Tuesday evening.
The 14th ranked Tars improve their record to 13-7 on the season
and 4-3 in SSC play while the Lions drop to 4-15, 0-5 SSC.
Neil
Clausen and Gustavo
Carvalho had all they could handle from Yves Jacobs and Richard
Maclachlan in the top doubles match, winning 9-8(3). Jeff
Morris and Bill
Rockwood won the No. 2 spot 8-3 over Andrew Sheets and Michael
Calloway while Nick
Rowlands and Jonathon
Emmet took Diego Timeteo and Jose Morales 8-6 at No. 3.
Neil
Clausen made quick work of Jacobs, winning 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1
and Morris blanked Maclachlan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Carvalho took the
No. 3 match over Timeteo, 7-5, 6-0.
Andrew
Johnson took Sheets 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 match while Graham
Ely won 6-0, 6-0 over Julian Jean Pierre in the No. 6
match.
Rollins will be back in action in their home finale on Thursday,
April 9 at 2:30 against Oneonta State.
