WINTER PARK, Fla. – The 15th-ranked
Rollins men's tennis team concluded their regular-season when they
earned a 6-3 victory over No. 35 Flagler College, Saturday.
The Tars end their regular-season with a 15-7 record and 3-3 in the
Sunshine State Conference to finish fourth in the standings.
Rollins is also riding a four-match winning streak, while the loss
for the Saints drops them to 9-7 on the year.
Flagler took a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Adrian
Tan and Jeff
Morris was the lone duo to record a win after a 9-8 (3) win
over David Cotrone and Harry Snoxell. The Tars' tandem is 18-3 on
the season and have won its last five matches.
After dropping matches in the second and third double slots,
Rollins dominated singles play to secure the victory. In the top
spot, Adrian
Tan captured his 12th victory of the season when he defeated
David Cotrone, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
Freshman Jeff
Morris followed with a victory in the second position with a
three-set win over Gino Ramirez, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Morris is now 17-4
during the 2009 season and is 12-2 when playing the second
slot.
Fellow freshman Neil
Clausen earned a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set decision over Harry
Snoxell to capture his 16th win of the season. Clausen has a
six-match singles winning streak to lead the team and is 9-1 in his
last ten matches.
After dropping the fourth spot, Bill
Rockwood and Andrew
Johnson defeated Flagler in the fifth and six positions,
respectively. Rockwood downed J.P. Llano, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, while
Johnson cruised past Mason Addison, 6-1, 6-3 to secure the victory
for Rollins.
The Tars will now gear up for the conference tournament beginning,
Thursday, April 16 at Boca Raton, Fla.
