FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 28, 2009)
The Rollins softball team suffered a disappointing loss to Nova
Southeastern, Saturday evening by a score of, 1-0 in eight innings.
The game turned out to be a pitching duel between Nicole
Anderson and Lexi Sarradet as each pitcher collected 11
strikeouts.
With the loss Nicole
Anderson falls to 15-4 on the season, while Sarradet improves
to 18-5 for the Sharks.
Throughout the contest it was a struggle for either team to
baserunners on as each team struggled to hit. The first seven
innings saw each team garner three hits apiece. Offensively Monica
Meadows, Jamie
Rausch, and Rachael
Foster collected the three hits for the Tars.
After seven innings of play neither team could push across a run
until the Sharks came up to bat in the bottom half of the eighth
inning.
Luciani and Talenfeld reached for the Sharks to put runners on
first and second with nobody out. The next batter Brittney Lamb
lined out to Rachel
Almengual at third and Almengual fired the throw over to second
base to pick off Luciani on the double play. Lopez was the next
batter as she hit a double to right field to score the winning run
from first base. That was all the Sharks needed as they went on to
win 1-0 in eight innings.
The Tars return to the diamond Sunday, March 29 for doubleheader
action with the Nova Southeastern Sharks.
