WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 13, 2009) - The Rollins women's soccer team kicks off their sixth week of play remaining in the NSCAA Division II National Poll's top ten, coming in at No. 9 this week. The Tars sit with an overall mark of 9-1-1, and hold a perfect 3-0 conference record as they prepare for the final three weeks of regular season action where they will match up with SSC opponents Nova Southeastern, Lynn, Tampa, Barry, and Florida Southern.

The Tars kick off this week against Nova Southeastern as they travel to Ft. Lauderdale on Tuesday to take in the Sharks at 6:00 p.m. Last time out against the Sharks, Rollins kept their undefeated 2008 season in check with a 2-0 victory over Nova in a home contest.

Goalkeeper Michelle Dillingham collected her second shutout of her career and helped the Tars secure their sixth lock out of their 2008 campaign as she collected five saves and saw a full 90 minutes on the field. Jessica Deese tabbed the game-winning goal, while Charlotte Murrell notched a goal and assist of her own and midfielder Jessica Mooney tallying an assist as well. Rollins controlled the tempo throughout the whole game against the Sharks, leading the shot count 17-10, corner kicks 6-3, as well as shots on goal 10-5.

Closing out the week at home, Rollins looks to prepare for a tough matchup against the Lynn University Fighting Knights. Last year, the two teams met on October 18 and battled out to a final score of 2-0 in the Tars' favor.

Three Tars registered points on the afternoon against the Fighting Knights as defender Dana Merrill was able to get the Tars up on the board in the first half off of a free kick from long range. Leah Hirsch helped Rollins seal the deal off of an assist from Deese in the second half and hand Rollins their fourth conference victory of 2008. Rollins was able to hold a resilient Lynn squad at bay with help from Dillingham, who racked up six saves while seeing a total of 14 shots and eight shots on goal.

Rollins earned their first ever Sunshine State Conference regular season championship title last year, and look to repeat their success again this season as they prepare for the final weeks of action. Fans will be able to catch all of this week's action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
