No. 9 Rollins Takes SSC Match Against Lions

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 11, 2008) - The 9th-ranked Rollins men's tennis team fell in only one match en route to a conference win against the Saint Leo Lions 8-1 on senior day at the Tiedke Tennis Courts.

Rollins won two of three doubles bouts as Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez defeated Brandon Stacey and Saif Noorsumar 8-2 in the No. 1, while Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo fell to Pablo Chavez and Michael Del Priore 8-6 in the second position. Adrian Tan and Austin Duvall blanked Diego Timoteo and Andrew Sheetse 8-0 in the No. 3.

The Tars took all six singles matches in straight sets as Gomez rolled against Chavez 6-3, 6-3 in the top spot and Tan coasted by Stacey 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2. Seijo won his match against Noorsumar 6-2, 6-2 in the third seed, while Duvall defeated Del Priore 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth slot. Playing No. 5, Albin Hubscher throttled Timoteo 6-4, 6-1, and Jason Hamidi started his first match of 2008 with a win over Sheets 6-0, 3-0 ret. at the sixth spot.

The Tars will be back in action in the Sunshine State Conference tournament which begins on Thursday April 17 in Lakeland.
