No. 9 Tars Win Third Straight Match Against Washburn

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 19, 2008) - The 9th-ranked Rollins men's tennis team won 2-3 doubles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Washburn University on Wednesday afternoon.

Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez defeated Rutger Vliengenberg and Andrew Plum 8-5, while Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo notched a win over Nathan Martin and Brad Johnston 8-4. Adrian Tan and Austin Duvall fell to Drew Hanson and Ryan Ward 8-5 in the third spot.

The Tars won their matches at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5, while Carvalho was overpowered by Hanson 7-6, 6-7, 10-6 in the fourth seed and Andrew Johnson lost his first match of the season to Plum 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6.

The Tars will be back in action on tomorrow, March 20 in a 3:00 p.m. scrimmage against Army.
