No. 7 Tars Stay Unbeaten With Win Over Southern Arkansas

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 18, 2008) - Winning every match in straight sets, the Rollins women's tennis team continued their unbeaten streak as they defeated Southern Arkansas 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.

Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra bettered their overall record to 10-1 with a victory over Meaghan Ocanas and Ana Gonzalez-Dorado 8-3 in the top spot. Sonia Bernal and Margaret Junker stay undefeated 11-0 in doubles with their easy win against Rachel Vinsant and Caitlin Korensek 8-0 in the No. 2. Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko also remain an unbeaten 11-0 with an 8-5 win over Aneeka Bhalla and Megan Phinny 8-5 in the third position.

All six singles players notched straight set wins as Mahler rolled past Vinsant 6-1, 6-2 and Bernal cruised against Ocanas 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2. Shevchenko made easy work against Gonzalez-Dorado 6-2, 6-0, while Luthra took out Bhalla 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth slot. Frandji blanked Phinny 6-0, 6-0 and Cassie Webster tallied her first win of 2008 against Brooke Grigsby 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6.

The Tars (11-0)'will be back in action tomorrow, March 19 when they host Washburn University (6-1) at 3:30 p.m.
