WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 22, 2008) ' With
three homeruns by Jamie Rausch, the Rollins College softball team
got back to their winning ways against Salem International with an
11-0 game one win and an 8-0 second game victory. Rollins record is
now 3-5, while the Tigers fall to 1-10.
Rollins started their home campaign in a big way scoring seven
runs in the first inning of the opening game. The scoring began
with a single up the middle by first baseman Sherri Rabenold. With
the bases loaded, Rausch banged a homerun over the right-field
fence.
In five at bats on the afternoon, Rausch totaled three runs on
three hits and seven RBI. Rabenold tallied three runs on five hits
with five RBI. Rabenold was also 3-3 on stolen bases. Missy
Thogmartin also had a productive afternoon notching two runs on
three hits with three RBI.
Nicole Anderson was the game one winner pitching four innings
and giving up two hits while striking out five. Kasey Marple
pitched the first contest for the Tigers tossing four innings and
giving up 11 runs on 11 hits and one strikeout.
Rachael Foster led the Tars to a game two victory throwing three
innings and only giving up one hit while striking out five. For
Salem International, Kyanna Cape pitched four innings giving up
eight runs on eight hits and striking out six.
Shortstop Tori Lease was the lone Tiger hitter in the first game
with two hits, while left-fielder Weslyn Leffler had the only hit
for Salem International in the second contest.
The Tars will be back in action on Friday, February 29 as they
begin conference play with a weekend series against the Barry
University Buccaneers (9-2). First pitch is slated for 7:00
p.m.
