BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 16, 2008) ' The
Rollins women's basketball team notched its fifth consecutive win
by defeating the Lynn University Fighting Knights for the second
time this season 59-52 at the de Hoernle Center.
Rollins was led by sophomore Brittainy Daiger who had 16 points,
six boards and two blocks. Daiger was also 5-7 from the floor and
6-8 from the stripe. Jennifer Musgrove chipped in a double-double
of 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Jessica Pressley added 11
points, three assists and three rebounds.
Leading 34-19 in the second half, Rollins started its run to get
even. Jennifer Musgrove scored 12 of her 14 points in the final
period and assisted on four more baskets for the Tars.
Each team exchanged baskets during the first five minutes of the
second half but Rollins eventually wore the Knights down. A
three-pointer by Jessica Pressley cut Lynn's lead to 41-40 with
7:38 remaining in the game. Liz Roth immediately scored on a lay-up
from Williams only to see Musgrove knock down a shot at the free
throw line, then drain a three from the right side of the arc,
giving RC a 44-43 lead.
Lynn would not recover, failing to hit a shot from the field
until Williams went coast-to-coast on a lay-up with two minutes
left.
Crystal Ahmed was Lynn's high-scorer with 16 points and eight
rebounds, followed closely by Jade Williams who tallied 11 points
and Natalie Basore who registered 10 for the Fighting Knights.
The Tars (15-8, 5-7) will be back in action on Wednesday,
February 20 when the travel to Ft. Lauderdale to take on the Nova
Southeastern Sharks at 5:30 p.m. Fans can listen to all the action
