No. 10 Rollins Rolls Past No. 37 Palm Beach Atlantic 8-1

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (February 16, 2008) ' Dropping only one match on the afternoon, the Rollins men's tennis team handily defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (3-1) 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Delray Beach Tennis Center.

The Tars (1-1) swept the doubles action with Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez cruising by Brock Newton and Paul Segudo 8-2 in the No.1 seed. At No. 2, Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo overcame James Buerkle and Lukas Colombo 8-6. Bill Rockwood and Adrian Tan took out John Tilton and Frankie Moulton 8-6 in the third spot.

In singles action, 45th-ranked Compton fell to 35th-ranked Newton 6-4, 7-6, as 48th-ranked Gomez picked up a win in the second seed by defeating Segudo 7-6, 6-2. Tan had an easy time against Colombo in the third slot 6-0, 609, while Seijo blew by Moulton 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 4. In the No. 5, Carvalho topped Buerkle 6-3, 7-6 and Duvall rounded out the singles play by containing Tilton 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 6 position.

Rollins will be back in action on Monday, February 18 as they host the Florida Tech Panthers at 2:30 p.m. at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.
