WINTER PARK, Fla. (December 15, 2008) – Rachael Malatesta scored a game-high 12 points and Rollins' tenacious defense held Flagler to just 22 percent shooting as the Tars downed the Saints 69-35 Monday night.

Rollins, who checked in at No. 23 in the latest WBCA USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, moved to 8-0 on the year and gave head coach Glenn Wilkes Jr. his 495th career victory. Flagler fell to 2-8 on the season.

Malatesta was efficient, shooting 5-7 from the floor and 2-3 from 3-point range. She also tallied five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Freshman Jasmine Bradley chipped in nine points and five steals off the bench with Ines Teuma adding seven points and five boards.

Point guard Paris Moore led the Tars on the glass with seven as Rollins earned a 50-36 rebounding edge.

Annie Maloney led the Saints with nine points while Chanti Beckett netted eight and pulled down eight rebounds.

The Tars quickly jumped out to an 18-7 lead less than eight minutes into the game with 12 of their points during the stretch coming from beyond the arc. Rollins then amped up the pressure, forcing five turnovers over the next four minutes and turning them into points to take a 27-10 advantage with eight minutes left in the first. The period ended with an exclamation point as Moore banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer from a step inside the half court line, giving the Tars a 35-16 lead.

The Rollins advantage ballooned to 30, 57-27 after the first eight minutes of the second half, punctuated by a Bradley trey off a kick-out from Teuma. A Kourtnie Berry steal and Jessica Barker lay-up, followed by a Heidi Lacks long-range bomb put the Tars up 34 with five minutes left, which would prove to be the final margin of victory.

Rollins will be off for the holiday's, but return on December 28-29 to host the RollinsSportsStore.com Challenge at the Alfond Sports Center. The Tars will take on Fort Valley State at 1 p.m. on December 28 and will battle Albany State at 1 p.m. on December 29. Fans will be able to catch all the action live on the Citizens Bank of Florida Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM, WPRK.
