WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 29, 2008)
Rollins shot 56 percent from the field and dominated on the glass
to post a 76-40 win over Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on the final day
of the Rollins Thanksgiving Classic.
The win moves Rollins to 6-0 on the season while the Gamecocks
fall to 0-6. The tournament's final match-up was an overtime
thriller as No. 23 Fort Lewis downed No. 16 Arkansas Tech
73-64.

Teuma led the Tars offense for the third straight game, netting
15 points to go along with eight rebounds. Brittainy
Daiger added 11 points with Jessica
Pressley notching nine, all from beyond the arch.
Marangely Cruz paced the Gamecocks with 10 points. Sonia Roman
and Ethel Gonzalez each added eight.
Rio Piedras jumped ahead early, scoring the game's first four
points before the Tars rallied with an 11-2 run to take an 11-6
lead seven minute into the game. Back to back jumpers by Teuma and
Daiger pushed the Tars advantage to 10, 24-14 with seven minutes
left in the frame. The Gamecocks put together a 6-2 spurt over the
next four minutes, but Rollins ended the half on a 10-2 run to take
a 36-23 lead into the locker room.
The second half was all Rollins as they quickly built a 20 point
lead two and a half minutes into the period. Kourtney Berry made
good on a free throw with 13:30 left to spark a 19-2 as Rollins
doubled-up the Gamecocks, 64-32 with just under eight minutes left.
The Tars cruised from that point on to post the 36 point win and
stay perfect on the season.
The Tars shot 56 percent (30-54) for the game while holding Rio
Piedras to just 31 percent (16-51) from the field. Rollins also
held a huge rebound advantage, out boarding the Gamecocks 38-26
while also forcing 19 turnovers.
Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, December 6 as they
open up Sunshine State Conference play at home against Florida
