WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (October 4, 2008) - The tenth ranked Rollins women's soccer team was unable to pull past the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on a wet, blustery Saturday afternoon, resulting in a 1-1 double-overtime tie. The Tars continue their undefeated season with an overall record of 9-0-2, while the Sailfish sit with a record of 1-8-2 on the season.

For the first time in their 2008 campaign, the Tars took to the pitch in soggy, gusty weather, and the adjustment in play was evident throughout the first half. While Rollins led the stats and controlled the tempo of play, the Tars were unable to put themselves up on the scoreboard or capitalize on offensive opportunities.

Junior defender Maia Ryan was finally able to tally a goal for the Tars with an assist from freshman fireball Charlotte Murrell in the first few minutes of the second period. Ryan was able to collect on an opportunity on the left side of the pitch and fire a ball from 35 yards out over the head of PBA goalkeeper Ashley Morrell.

Rollins held steady throughout the remainder of the period, but Palm Beach Atlantic was able to tab their own goal late in the second half as Brandi Bianco collected on assists from Angie Kuhn and Grace Alfredson to send the ball past Tars' goalkeeper Stephanie Woelfel who played the second half between the pipes.

Freshman goalkeeper Michelle Dillingham also saw time in goal for the Tars, shutting down the Sailfish offense by making two saves and not allowing any goals in her 65 minutes of play.

The Sailfish almost grabbed the game-winning goal with under two minutes to go in regulation, but with an open goal, and a shot fired from just yards away from the goal line, junior midfielder Joy Powell stepped up to take the block and keep the game tied at 1-1 and kick it into overtime play.

The Tars dominated the stats as well as the tempo of the game throughout the whole contest, but were unable to follow through in the inclement weather. Rollins led in shots 26-8, shots on goal 12-5, and corner kicks 11-2 throughout the match.

The tenth ranked Rollins women's soccer team will be back in action on their home turf on Wednesday, October 8, when they take on the Saint Leo Lions in a 7 p.m. conference showdown. Fans can watch and listen to all of the action live on the Citizen's Bank of Florida Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.com.
