Rollins travels down to Miami Shores, Fla. for their sixth
Sunshine State Conference matchup this season.' The Tars walked
away with a huge win over conference leader Lynn University on
Saturday, posting a 68-63 win over the Fighting Knights and handing
them their first SSC loss of the season.' Rollins, the two-time
defending Sunshine State Conference champions, will be looking to
better their SSC record tonight against Barry and pull ahead to
3-3.
SSC STANDINGS
Rollins is 10-4 overall and 2-3 in SSC play, putting them
in fifth place... Barry is 11-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference,
placing them in a close sixth behind Rollins.
SERIES VS. BARRY
Rollins has a career record of 34-10 versus Barry, and the Tars
have won two in a row over the Buccaneers.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Jennifer Musgrove leads the Tars with 14.9 points per
game, 4.4 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. Ines Teuma (9.1 rpg)
and Musgrove (8.2 rpg) lead the team in rebounds, and junior
transfer Jocelyn Kelly leads the team with 1.1 blocks per
game.'
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
Barry dropped another SSC game on Saturday against Tampa,
46-41.' The Bucs recovered from a 40-29 deficit with 5:56 remaining
to three points on a trey by Lucy Martinez with 0:40 seconds left
to play, but UT's Angela Guiu hit both ends of a two-shot foul to
take the win for the Spartans.' Martinez finished the contest with
17 points and six rebounds. Junior Princess Bailey also tallied a
double digit performance with 10 points.
LOOKING AHEAD
Rollins will travel to Lakeland to take on the Florida Southern
Moccasin's at 5:30 on Saturday, January 26.
LAST TIME OUT
Rollins started slowly in their semifinal match-up against
the Barry Buccaneers last season, but were able to gather momentum
and fight back to win 51-37. The Tars advanced to their seventh
total Sunshine State Conference Championship where they battled the
University of Tampa Spartans.
TARS TIDBITS
Last week's contest against the Lynn Fighting Knights saw
Musgrove's 1,000 career point off a sinker from long range in the
second half.' With her two blocks, Musgrove also surpassed Tara
Cartrell (1998) in blocked shots.' Musgrove is now two steals away
from tying Jill Razor's (2001) career high of 277 steals.' With
four steals, Musgrove will surpass both Razor and Assistant
Coach/former player Tami Stark (Newcomb), who set a career high of
280 back in 1997.
