HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (September 2, 2007) ' The
ninth-ranked Rollins men's soccer team fell behind 1-0 early in
Sunday's afternoon match at regional opponent Alabama-Huntsville,
but the Tars came back and scored three unanswered goals to pick up
the 3-1 victory.' Rollins improved to 3-1 with the win, and the
Chargers fell to 1-3.
UAH forward Daniel Wright headed in a cross from Devin Schleif
in the 14th minute to give the Chargers the early lead.' Rollins
responded quickly with a goal three minutes later to tie the game
at one.' Junior Leslie Osei crossed the ball from the left side,
and junior Dennis Chin was there to score his fourth goal of the
year.' The Tars took a 2-1 lead on a similar play in the 23rd
minute; Osei crossed the ball into the penalty area from the left
side, and a Charger defender deflected the ball into the net for an
own goal.
Sophomore Thomas Makin scored the third and final goal in the
62nd minute.' Osei took a corner kick from the right side, and Chin
flicked the ball behind himself with a header.' Makin was there to
blast the ball past the keeper on the near side for his third goal
of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Frazer Siddall saved nine shots for Rollins
while allowing the one goal.' Chargers keeper Geoffrey Merry
allowed three goals and saved three shots.
UAH out-shot the Tars 14-9 in the game despite taking the loss.'
Rollins held the corner kick advantage at 9-5.
The Tars will return to Florida for an important regional match
