WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2007) ' The Rollins baseball team fell to #23 Florida Gulf Coast 1-0 in 10 innings at Alfond Stadium on Monday afternoon, dropping its second game of the three-game series against the Eagles.' The Tars now stand at 11-7 overall, and FGCU improved to 14-5.

Rollins starter David Nathanson was strong once again for the Tars, pitching eight scoreless innings and striking out 10 while allowing just four hits and two walks.' Nathanson lowered his team-leading ERA to 1.96.' Freshman reliever Bobby Coster (0-1) pitched a scoreless ninth, but he allowed the batter to reach base that would come around to score the winning run, leading to his first career loss.' Sophomore catcher Eugene Martinez was the only player from either side to have two hits on the day, as he went 2-4 with two singles.

Eagles starter Richard Bleier matched Nathanson pitch-for-pitch, striking out 10 of his own and allowing five hits and four walks in eight innings.' J.J. Crumbley (4-1) pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, leading to his fourth win of the year.' First baseman Jason Peacock brought home the winning run with the game's only extra-base hit, a double past a diving Mike Crane in left field in the 10th.' Catcher Graig Smith walked to lead off the 10th for FGCU, and he advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by shortstop Stephen Rassel.' Two batters later Peacock delivered, bringing home the go-ahead run against Rollins reliever Alex Venegas.

Rollins will have a short break before returning to Alfond Stadium on Friday, March 9 to face Eckerd College in the team's first Sunshine State Conference game of the year, and first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
