WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 23, 2007) ' The
19th ranked Rollins men's tennis team took another victory as they
defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 6-3 on Friday
afternoon.
The Tars (12-5) dropped the No. 1 doubles match, but recovered
by winning the second and third seeds. Jonathan Gomez and Gustavo
Carvalho were taken down by Paul Segodo and Brock Newton 8-6 in the
No. 1. In the second seed, Michael Schwartz and Adrian Tan topped
Tyler Dealy and Lukas Colombo 8-5. Abin Hubscher and Brian Compton
blanked Rob VanDerscoff and James Buerkle 8-0 to claim the No. 3
match.
The Sailfish (9-9) took the first and second seed match, while
the Tars snatched the remaining four bouts. Segodo defeated Compton
2-6, 6-3, 10-7 in the No. 1 spot, while Newton forced Tan to retire
in the second position. Carvalho ran past 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3,
and Pablo Seijo dominated Buerkle 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth seed.
Schwartz overwhelmed Colombo 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth spot, while
Hubscher downed Dealy 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 6.
The Tars will be back in action on Saturday, March 24, as they
travel to Miami Shores to take on conference rival Barry Buccaneers
(9-1, 3-1) at 11:00 a.m.
