WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 24, 2007) ' Junior
left fielder Mike Crane hit his first two homeruns of the year and
drove in seven runs in the Rollins baseball team's 16-1 victory
over non-conference opponent Bentley College on Saturday afternoon
at Alfond Stadium.' The Tars' fifth consecutive win pushes their
record to 9-4 overall, and the Falcons dropped to 1-6 with the
loss.
Crane led the offensive explosion, going 3-4 with three runs and
seven RBI.' Sophomore outfielder Jesse More had another fantastic
day at the plate, going 3-5 with two doubles, two runs, and three
RBI, and sophomore catcher Jason Cutlip powered the bottom of the
lineup, going 2-3 with a homerun, two runs, and two RBI.' Also
contributing on offense were sophomore first baseman Ryan Maddern
(2-2, double), junior third baseman Gary Martoccio (two runs),
senior shortstop Ryan McKenzie (1-3, double, two runs) sophomore
designated hitter Anthony Soto (2-3, one run, one RBI), and junior
center fielder Corey Whiting (2-3, three runs, one RBI).

six hits in the game.' Shortstop Steve Gath drove in the lone
Falcons run in the first inning, driving a pitch over the left
field wall for a homerun.
Rollins starter Jon Wano (3-0) picked up his third win of the
year, allowing one run on six hits and one walk through eight
innings.' Freshman left-hander Bobby Coster finished the game for
the Tars, striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.' Bentley
starter Matt Boudrow (0-1) allowed 10 runs in four innings for the
loss.' Falcons reliever Dean Sandonato surrendered five runs, four
earned, in just one third of an inning, and Joe Herzog took over to
pitch the remaining three and two thirds innings, allowing one run
over that span.
Bentley took an early 1-0 lead on the homerun by Gath in the top
of the first, but the Tars responded in the bottom of the inning,
scoring two on Crane's first homerun.' The Tars came back to score
five in the second, highlighted by Cutlip's solo homerun.' Rollins
opened the game wide open in the fifth, scoring eight more to push
the lead to 15-1.' Another run in the seventh gave Rollins the 16-1
lead, and that is where the score would remain for the rest of the
way.
Rollins and Bentley will return to Alfond Stadium for the final
game of the weekend series on Sunday, February 25.' First pitch is
scheduled for noon, and the game will be broadcast live on the Tars
