WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 24, 2007) ' Jessica
Pressley netted a team high 10 points to lead the Rollins women's
basketball team past Puerto Rico Rio Piedras 52-30 on Saturday. The
win moves the Tars to 4-0 on the season and completes the sweep of
this year's Rollins College Thanksgiving Classic.
Pressley was 4-5 from the field, including 2-3 from long range,
while also pulling down five rebounds. Senior Jennifer Musgrove
again provided a solid night, tallying nine points, three rebounds,
five assists and two steals. Forwards Brittainy Daiger and Ines
Teuma each added eight points and eight rebounds for the Tars.
Sonia Roman posted 11 points and six rebounds to lead Rio
Piedras with Yomari Rivera adding eight points and seven
boards.
Rollins ran to a 20-3 lead over the first 15 minutes with
Pressley scoring eight during the span. With less than a minute in
the half, Musgrove picked a steal and passed ahead to Staci Rossi
for the layup, making the score 28-9 at the half.
The Tars kept the pressure up through the second half, going up
by as much as 27, 46-19, in the middle of the frame.
The Rollins women's basketball team will be back in action on
Saturday, December 1 when they open up Sunshine State Conference
play against Tampa. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Winter Park.
