WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 19, 2007) 'Junior midfielder Jon Gruenewald scored in his fourth consecutive game and notched his fifth game-winner of the season in the Rollins men's soccer team's 1-0 win over Flagler on Friday night. The Tars improved to 10-4-2 overall, marking the team's 10th consecutive season with 10 or more wins, while Flagler dropped to 2-9-1 with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, Gruenewald had a chance to break the tie with a penalty kick at the 63:15 mark, but his shot rocketed off the crossbar and back into play. The junior made up for it by scoring the game's lone goal 11 minutes later; sophomore defender Thomas Biddinger took a free kick near the center circle, and the ball sailed over the defense to Gruenewald inside the penalty area on the left side, where he was free to spin and shoot for his team-leading eighth goal of the year.

Senior goalkeeper Frazer Siddall returned to the field after a midseason finger injury and saved five shots, notching his fifth shutout of the year for the Tars. Josiah Holtz put up a fight for the Saints, saving eight shots on goal, but the Tars finally broke through with the second half game-winner. Flagler also received two saves from its field players for a total of 10 for the squad.

After a relatively quiet first half in which only nine shots were attempted between the two teams, the pace quickened for a frantic second frame; Flagler attempted 14 shots in the second half to the Tars' 13, and the Saints finished the game with a shot advantage of 19-17. Rollins was awarded seven corner kicks to the Saints' six.

Rollins will enter the final week of regular season with a record of 5-1-1 in Sunshine State Conference play, and they will battle No. 11 Lynn (13-1, 5-1 SSC) in front of the home fans at Barker Family Stadium with a chance to win the regular season conference title and clinch home field advantage in the SSC Tournament. Kickoff will start at 7:00 p.m., and fans can watch and listen to all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.tv.
