Rollins Harriers Compete at Sodexho/Hatter Invite

DeLAND, Fla. (October 12, 2007) ' The Rollins men finished 15th and the women checked in at 17th as the Tars cross country teams competed in the Stetson Sodexho/Hatter Invitational on Friday. Jesse Hugo led the way for the men and Kristen Hechler was the top finisher for the women.

In the men's division, Rollins totaled 329 points with winner UCF earning 39. Xavier was second and Nova Southeastern third.

Hugo ran a time of 28:55 to come in 45th and lead the Tars. Aleks Markovic came in 73rd with a time of 30:28 and Rob Hoffman was 91st in 31:49. John Watson came in 108th place in 33:57 with Daniel Galvez taking 117th in 35:10.

For the women, Rollins rang up 398 points. Xavier won with 45 points, followed by Florida International in second and UCF in third.

Hechler stopped the clock in 21:16 to take 58th place for Rollins. Erica Tibbetts was 110th in 23:08, Jaci Nora 125th in 25:06 and Monica Pena 127th in 25:11. Tawny Najjar finished 131st with a time of 25:41, Lisa Thatcher came in 142nd in 26:56 and Katie Powell took 145th in 27:50.

The Rollins men's and women's cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, October 20 at the 2007 Sunshine State Conference Championships in Saint Leo, Florida.
