WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 27, 2007) - For the first time in over two years, the Rollins women's basketball team lost its second regular season conference game in a row, dropping a Sunshine State Conference contest 65-50 to Barry University at Warden Arena on Saturday afternoon.' The Tars dropped to 14-4 overall and 6-2 in conference, and the Buccaneers improved to 10-7, 6-2 to tie Rollins for second place in the SSC.

Sophomore guards Jessica Barker and Jennifer Dyer led the Tars with 10 points each.' Dyer and junior guard Jennifer Musgrove each grabbed seven rebounds, and senior forward Larissa McDonough added nine points and two blocks.' Musgrove led all players with five assists, and she and freshman guard Staci Rossi each notched two steals.

Princess Bailey led Barry with 18 points on 7-13 from the field and 3-6 from three-point territory.' She also had a game-high five steals.' Alex Fernander and Amanda Mageean notched double-doubles for the Buccaneers; Fernander scored 16 on 7-11 shooting and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, and Mageean added 10 points and 11 rebounds.' Sandra Jansson was the fourth Barry player in double digits, scoring 14, including 4-9 from the three-point line.

Barry went ahead early, gaining a 4-3 lead three minutes into the game.' Two free throws by McDonough put Rollins up by one with 16:09 on the clock, but Barry regained the lead and would not give it up the rest of the way.' The Buccaneers' largest lead of the first half happened with 1:40 on the clock when Jansson drained a three-pointer to put Barry up 25-12.' Barry continued its strong play into the second half, going up by as many as 16 with 1:27 left in the game on a layup by Fernander.

The nationally-ranked Rollins defense was not its usual self, giving up a season-high 65 points and its second highest opponents' field goal percentage of the season (43.6 percent).' The Tars also had one of their poorer offensive showings, scoring their third lowest total of the year at 50 points.' One bright spot for the Tars was they once again held the rebound advantage, this time outdoing their opponents 44-38.

The last consecutive regular season SSC losses for the Rollins women's basketball team happened on January 12, 2005 at Florida Southern and January 15, 2005 at Lynn.

The Tars will be back in action on Monday, January 29 for a home game against SSC opponent Florida Southern at 5:30 p.m.' Rollins defeated the Moccasins 65-52 in Lakeland earlier in the year, and the Tars will look to get back to its winning ways.'
