WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 1, 2006) ' Rollins sophomore Lindsay Giblin scored her sixth goal of the young season five minutes into overtime, giving the Tars a thrilling 4-3 OT win over Alabama-Huntsville Friday night. The win keeps the Tars perfect on the year at 3-0 while the Chargers fall to 1-1.

Giblin and senior Jacquelyn Parsons each notched two goals to lead the Rollins attack with Danielle Martin and Jeri Ostuw each tallying an assist. Ina Wam Bjorklid scored twice for the Chargers while Abby Jones found the back of the net once.

Stephanie Woelfel started for Rollins between the posts, allowing one goal and grabbing five saves in 45 minutes of action. Francesca Nicoloso played the final 50 minutes in goal, surrendering two goals. Annika Mehrtens and Samantha Allen split time in net for UAH with Mahrtens allowing three goals with eight saves and Allen surrendering one goal.

Parsons put Rollins ahead early, taking a Martin pass and scoring just eight minutes into the contest. The Chargers knotted the score at one in the 25th minute as Jones scored on a Brittany Walker cross. In the 29th minute, Giblin was dragged to the ground in the box and converted on the penalty kick to put the Tars back on top.

Eight minutes into the second period, UAH came back again as Bjorklid scored a goal amidst a scramble in front of the net. Parsons scored her second goal of the contest in the 70th minute as her shot from 30 yards out trickled between the keeper's legs and into the net. Bjorklid struck again in the waning minutes of regulation as Rollins was unable to clear it away deep in the box and she slid a shot past Nicoloso to tie the score at 3-3 in the 78th minute. Neither team mounted an attack for the remainder of period and the match was sent to overtime.

Five minutes into the extra period, Giblin blazed up the middle with the ball, beating a slew of defenders and blasted a shot past Allen to give Rollins the dramatic overtime victory.

Rollins held a huge advantage in shots, putting up 26 while allowing UAH to just seven, largely due to the play of defenders Alison Tradd, Lindsay Taylor, Ericka Mohr and Danielle Martin.

The Rollins offense has been hitting on all cylinders as well with the Tars outscoring their opponents 15-4 on the year. Giblin has six goals and two assists while Taylor, Parsons and Melissa Saint James have two goals apiece.

The Tars will play in another big regional match on Sunday, September 3 as they will host Montevallo at Cahall-Sandspur Field and Barker Family Stadium. Game time is scheduled for Noon. Fans can listen live by logging onto www.RollinsSports.com.
