WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 25, 2006) ' After a dramatic 2-1 double overtime win over eighth ranked Clayton State in the season opener the night before, the Rollins men's soccer team enjoyed a more relaxed contest on Friday night at Barker Family Stadium when they defeated the visiting Briar Cliff Chargers 11-1.

The win brought Rollins' record up to 2-0 overall, and the loss dropped Briar Cliff down to 0-2 on the young season.

The Tars scored early and often, jumping out to a 6-0 lead after just 30 minutes of play.' Defender Jacob Deloach was first to score, driving a low shot into the net at the 4:46 mark.' Freshman midfielder Michael Aronski then netted the next two in the 17th and 18th minutes.' Forward Chris Cerroni scored his third of the season in the 24th minute, and forward Dennis Chin rounded out the first half scoring with goals at the 29:33 and 30:43 marks.' Chin had an open net chance for a first half hat trick, but he teased it just right of the goal to the shock of the crowd.

The second half scoring started with Ian Kukulka at the 48:12 mark when he headed in a cross.' Stokes Smith was next on the board with a breakaway goal in the 52nd minute, and James Taylor followed him just one minute later to up the lead to 9-0.' Kukulka scored his second of the game in the 77th minute, and Jon Gruenewald finished up the scoring for Rollins in the 80th minute.' Joe Florke was the lone Charger to make it into the net, as he chipped one over Tars goalkeeper Dana Singer's head at the 85:05 mark.

Aronski, Gruenewald, and Kukulka all assisted on one goal apiece, Thomas Makin tallied two, and Leslie Osei totaled an amazing three assists.

The Tars dominated all aspects of the game.' They out shot the Chargers 32-6, and they had 11 corner kicks compared to just three for Briar Cliff.' Chargers goalkeeper Buddy Goodenkauf saved seven shots, and Frazer Siddall saved the lone shot on goal from Briar Cliff besides their goal in the final minutes.

Cerroni's score gave him 33 in his career and tied him for seventh place in Rollins school history with current Head Coach Keith Buckley.

The Tars will continue non-conference play with another home match on September 1 when they host Alabama-Huntsville at 7:30 p.m.' The women's team will also face Alabama-Huntsville that night, and that game will kick off at 5:00 p.m.
