SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 5, 2006) ' The Rollins men's tennis team put
up their fifth shutout of the season and second over Saint Leo
Wednesday as the Tars downed the Lions 9-0 in a Sunshine State
Conference match-up. The win put No. 14 Rollins back to .500 at 9-9
overall and improves their conference mark to 3-2.

Rollins make quick work of the contest with just one match going to
a third-set, super tiebreaker.

In
No. 1 singles, Jonathan Gomez and David Tafur improved to 4-1 as a
duo, downing Mike DiGiacomo and Neil Watson 8-3. Adrian Tan and
Brian Irvin took the No. 2 match over Saif Noorsumar and Greg
Strange 8-1 while Brian Compton and Michael Schwartz defeated David
Farinez and Mike Del Priore 8-3 in the No. 3 position.

The
Tars rolled in singles play, taking five matches in straight sets.
Tan improved to a team best 11-6 on the year and 4-1 in the No. 1
position, downing DiGiacomo 6-3, 3-1 (ret.). Gomez also tallied his
11 th victory of the season, taking Watson 3-6, 6-2, 10-1 in the
No. 2 singles slot. Tafur was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Farinez in the
No. 3 match while Compton won 6-1, 6-0 over Strange at No. 4. Albin
Hubscher defeated Noorsumar 6-4, 6-1 in No. 5 singles and Irvin
stayed perfect on the year, improving to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-2
victory over De Priore.

Rollins returns to action on Sunday, April 9 at Valdosta State with
play slated for 10 a.m.
