WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 22, 2006) ' The Rollins College softball team split their double header with Nova Southeastern University on Saturday, winning game one 2-1 but dropping game two 2-1 in eight innings. The Tars now stand at 40-16 on the season and 11-10 in Sunshine State Conference play while the Sharks are 21-26 overall and 7-14 in the conference.

'

The Tars struck again in the third when sophomore Rachel Almengual (Odessa, Fla.) doubled down the left field line, scoring sophomore Jen Olsen (Winter Haven, Fla.) from second. Rollins held the 2-0 advantage until the sixth inning when Valen Eberhard opened the inning with a double and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Angela Martinez. Game two was a tight affair that took extra innings to determine a winner. The Tars were down 1-0 early as the Sharks grabbed the advantage in the top of the third when Ashley Matthews was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Jada Phillips single. Rollins rallied to score the tying run in the bottom of the seventh with two out. Freshman Jamie Rausch (Ocoee, Fla.) opened the inning with a single and reached second on junior Amanda DeFilippo's (Winter Springs, Fla.) single. Freshman Ashley East (Pace, Fla.) then stepped to the plate and sent a bouncer to the shortstop who could not coral the ball, loading the bases. The next batter, Olsen, got a hold of the Shannon Lynch pitch, sending the ball down the left field line, scoring Rausch from third and tying the game at one.

'

In extra innings, the Sharks recorded two singles and a double against Anderson, who entered the game in relief of sophomore Ingrid Schumacher (Naples, Fla.).
