PARK, Fla. (March 8, 2006) ' The Rollins College softball team
improved to 17-2 overall on Wednesday evening, sweeping the Tigers
of Salem International University 10-1 in game one and 2-0 in game
two. The Tars out-hit the Tigers 13-3 on the evening and freshman
pitcher Nicole Anderson recorded her second no-hitter of the season
in game two.

Sophomore
Ingrid Schumacher (Naples, Fla.) was in the circle for the Tars in
game one, allowing only three hits and one run and striking out six
in five innings for her seventh win of the season. Senior Kallie
Jones (Chandler, Okla.) led the Tars' at the plate, going 3-3 with
one run and three RBI. All three of Jones' hits went for doubles.
Also notching multiple hits in the game were juniors Stacy Sanders
(Orlando, Fla.) and Randi Irwin (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.). The
Tars out hit the Tigers 8-3 in the game and exploded for five hits
and seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the 10-1
victory.

The
second game started as a pitchers dual as Anderson (Brandon, Fla.)
and Kyanna Cape held the batters hitless through three innings. The
Tars broke through in the bottom of the fourth and recorded three
hits, singles by Jones and freshman Jamie Rausch (Ocoee, Fla.) and
a double by senior Kelly Cruz (Winter Springs, Fla.), and one run.
The Tars picked up another run in the bottom of the fifth and
Anderson held strong in the circle, picking up her eighth win of
the season. Jones was the lone Tar to notch two hits in the game,
going 2-3 and scoring a run. Junior Victoria Rudolph (Titusville,
Fla.) scored the second run for the Tars.

Rollins
will look to improve their 17-2 record on Friday, March 10 as they
host conference opponent Eckerd at 7:00 p.m. at Lake Island Park.
The two teams will return for a double header on Saturday, March
11, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
