PARK, Fla. (March 13, 2006) ' Rollins College softball head coach
Michelle Frew notched her 300th win at Rollins on Monday evening as
her Tars defeated the Cougars of Spring Arbor University 4-1 in
game one of the double header and 9-0 in game two. Coach Frew is in
her tenth year at Rollins and has her Tars rolling this season as
they currently stand 24-2 overall on the season.

Freshman
pitcher Nicole Anderson (Brandon, Fla.), the Sunshine State
Conference Pitcher of the Week, got the start in the circle in game
one allowing four hits, one run and one walk while striking out 10
batters. The Tars gave up the first run of the game in the third
inning after the leadoff hitter Lindsay Adamcyzk walked and then
advanced to second on Jenna Titler's bunt single. Cougars pitcher
Janna Klassen stepped to the plate and sent a double to center
field scoring Adamcyzk. Anderson then struck out the next three
batters, ending the inning. In the bottom of the fourth the Tars
loaded the bases for sophomore Ingrid Schumacher (Naples, Fla.) and
she sent a shot over the left field fence for her first home run of
the season, giving Rollins a 4-1 lead. That was all the offense the
Tars would need, as Anderson held the Cougars to only two more
hits, recording her thirteenth win of the season.

Freshman
Rachel Brenneman (Cheshire, Conn.) got the start in game two,
giving up only two hits and no runs or walks and striking out six
for her third win of the season. Rollins out-hit the Cougars 8-2 in
the game with senior Kelly Cruz (Winter Springs, Fla.) and
sophomore Ingrid Schumacher (Naples, Fla.) leading the way. Cruz
went 1-1 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and two walks in
the game, while Schumacher notched two hits, two runs scored and
two RBI. Also recording hits in the game were Rachel Almengual
(Odessa, Fla.), Jamie Rausch (Ocoee, Fla.), Devon Kontos (Orlando,
Fla.) and Kallie Jones (Chandler, Okla.) with two, including two
runs scored. The Tars scored two runs in the each of the first
three innings and three in the fourth to get the 9-0 victory.

Rollins
will next take on Merrimack University on Wednesday, March 15. The
double header is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Island
Park.
