WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 23, 2006) ' The Rollins men's tennis
team made quick work of Saint Leo, winning every match in straight
sets as the Tars posted a 9-0 victory over the Lions in Sunshine
State Conference action. The shutout, Rollins' third in a row,
improves them to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in SSC play with Saint Leo
falling to 1-4, 1-1.

The
Tars were hitting on all cylinders from the start, taking a quick
3-0 lead after doubles. Carlos Custodio and David Tafur defeated
Mike DiGiacomo and Neil Watson 8-4 in the No. 1 match while Brian
Compton and Jonathan Gomez took Tommy Haller and David Farinez 8-6
at the No. 2 position. Adrian Tan and Mike Compton scored an 8-2
win in the No. 3 match over Greg Strange and Saif Noorsumar.

Rollins continued to roll in singles play as they took each match
in straight sets. Nineteenth ranked Custodio downed DiGiacomo 6-3,
6-2 in the No. 1 match with Tan keeping his unbeaten streak alive
with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Haller in the No. 2 position. Tafur, the
48 th ranked singles player in the nation, won the No. 3 match 6-1,
6-3 over Watson while Brian Compton took the No. 4 singles match
6-3, 6-3 over Farinez. Gomez downed Strange 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and
Schwartz took Noorsumar 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 to complete the Tars
third straight win.

Rollins will be back on the courts on Saturday, February 25 when
they will host sixth ranked Lynn at the Martin Tennis complex.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
