After dropping three straight heartbreakers to some of the nation's
best teams to open the season, the Rollins men's tennis team got
back on track with a 9-0 win over Webber International on
Wednesday. The Tars improve to 1-3 on the year while Webber falls
to 1-3.
The Tars ruled every aspect of the
contest as just one match went to three sets. Carlos Custodio and
David Tafur scored an 8-6 win over Enrique Wright and Magnus Sang
at No. 1 doubles while Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez downed Cody
Wright and Yuiti Lopes 8-4 in the No. 2 match. Adrian Tan and Mike
Compton made it three for three in the doubles as they defeated
Christoph Bonadona and Ronnie Sang 9-7 in the No. 3 position.
Custodio downed Catter 6-2, 6-4 in No. 1
singles, Tan defeated Lopes 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 match and Tafur
scored a 6-4, 6-3 win over Wright in the No. 3 slot. Brian Compton
and Bonadona played the day's longest match with Compton winning
6-2, 6-3, 6-4 in No. 4 singles. Gomez won 7-6(5), 6-2 over Hansen
at No. 5 and Albin Hubscher got past Sang 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 to make
up the Tars 9-0 victory.
Rollins will be back on the courts on
Thursday, September 23, as they will host Sunshine State Conference
foe Saint Leo. Play will begin at 3 p.m.
