MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 1, 2006) ' The Rollins
baseball team couldn't get the bats warmed up and the pitching
staff struggled as the Tars fell to Florida Tech 8-0 in both
school's season opener Wednesday afternoon. Rollins (0-1) knocked
out just two hits and were tagged for three errors while Tech (1-0)
rolled up nine hits.

Senior Brent Magnuson led off the second inning with a single and
sophomore Kyle Harmon ripped a pinch hit single in the seventh to
make up the Tars offense. Eduardo Chile took the loss on the hill,
surrendering seven runs, four earned, on eight hits while also
tallying two strikeouts. John Masklee and Mick Eppich also threw in
relief for Rollins.

Crouse pitched seven scoreless innings to earn the win for Florida
Tech. Jon Baksh led the Panthers at the plate, going 4-4 with two
doubles while Bryan Stanton went 2-3 and Steve Condotta hit a
homerun.
'
Rollins will look to get back to their winning ways when they begin
a four game series with Belmont Abbey College on Friday, February 4
with game time set for 7 p.m. at Alfond Stadium at Harper-Shepard
Field. They will then square off with the Crusaders in a
doubleheader on Saturday, February 5 beginning at noon and will
finish with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, February 6.
