WINTER PARK, Fla. (December 13, 2006) ' The
Rollins women's basketball team came away with a 70-47 victory over
NAIA opponent Webber International at Warden Arena on Wednesday
night.' The Tars improved their record to 6-2 overall, and the
Warriors dropped to 3-4 with the loss.
Rollins was led on offense by senior forward Larissa McDonough
and junior guard Jennifer Musgrove with 13 points each.' Junior
forward Jennifer Catti added 10 points, and sophomore guard
Jennifer Dyer and sophomore forward Ines Teuma each netted seven.'
The team's 70 points were just one behind its season high 71
against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on November 16.
The Tars won the rebound battle 57-39, and they played stifling
defense throughout the game.' McDonough led the team with seven
rebounds, and sophomore guard Jessica Barker, Dyer, Musgrove, and
Teuma all had six.' Webber was limited to a field goal percentage
of 27.1%, while Rollins shot 41.8% from the floor.' Musgrove led
the Tars defense with four steals, and Dyer was right behind her
with two.
Rollins jumped out to a 24-6 lead in the game's first eight
minutes.' The Tars increased their lead to a game-high 24 points
with 1:41 left in the first half, and they entered the locker rooms
at half time up 38-19.' The Warriors recovered and played better in
the second half, scoring 28 points to Rollins' 32.
Webber International was led on offense by Ashley Butler with
nine points.' Nichole Clifton and Arafat Hutchinson grabbed six
rebounds apiece.
Rollins will be back in action on Friday, December 29 at the
Florida Tech Holiday Classic in Melbourne, Fla.' The Tars will face
Ft. Valley State on December 29 at 4:00 p.m., and they will play
Albany State the following day at 2:00 p.m.
