ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (October 6, 2006) ' Four
different players scored for the 24th ranked Rollins women's soccer
team in its 4-0 victory at Eckerd on Friday night.' The Tars
improved to 10-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the Sunshine State
Conference, and the Tritons now stand at 2-9-1 and 0-4-1.
Jeri Ostuw got the Tars on the board in the eighth minute when
she scored off of a through ball from Alison Tradd.' Lindsay Taylor
collected a loose ball in the penalty area after a corner kick by
Dana Merrill and scored at the 39:25 mark.' Lindsay Giblin scored
in the 49th minute from assists by Melissa Saint James and Jennifer
Dyer, and Saint James finished the scoring in the 66th minute with
an assist from Giblin.
The goal and assist for Giblin improved her team-leading totals
to 15 and eight respectively.' Ostuw's goal was her seventh, Saint
James' her sixth, and Taylor her fourth.' Dyer's assist was her
fourth, Saint James' her fourth, Tradd's her third, and Merrill her
first.
Stephanie Woelfel played the first 77 minutes in goal for the
Tars, and she saved three.' Francesca Nicoloso took over after that
and saved two in the final 13 minutes.' Melinda Montano played all
90 minutes in goal for the Tritons and stopped five shots.
The defensive squad of Danielle Martin, Ericka Mohr, Lindsay
Taylor, and Alison Tradd did their jobs all game, and freshmen Joy
Powell and Maia Ryan filled in effectively in the game's final
minutes.' Rollins allowed just nine shots, five on goal, while
attempting 13 shots themselves, nine of which were on target.
Rollins will face its toughest opponent yet as it travels to
Tampa on October 10 for a match with the third-ranked Spartans, and
