PARK, Fla. (January 7, 2006) ' The Rollins College women's
basketball team improved their record to a perfect 11-0 on the
season and 3-0 in the Sunshine State Conference with a 64-50
victory over the visiting Tritons of Eckerd College (2-11, 0-2
SSC). The Tritons kept the game close all afternoon, but the Tars
were able to pull ahead in the end and secure the victory.

Freshman guard Jennifer Dyer
(Wake Forest, N.C.) had a career game
for the Tars, going 7-9 from the field for a total of 14 points.
Dyer scored eight of her points in the last 3:05 in the first half,
moving the Tars from a three point advantage to a ten point
advantage at the half.

The
Tritons were not at all intimidated by the Tars #11 ranking as they
came out and kept the Tars on their toes all afternoon. The Tritons
were up by as many as five points with 11:26 remaining in the first
half, but the Tars slowly cut the lead and moved ahead on Dyer's
layup with 3:05 to go in the half. The Tars took a ten point
advantage into the locker room at the half.

The
second half saw the Tritons continue to pressure the Tars,
eventually forcing them into 11 turnovers in the second half alone,
and 20 in the game. Led by freshman forward Gabby Gattuso's 22
points on the afternoon, the Tritons never let the Tars take over
in the game. Rollins was able to grab a 16 point lead halfway
through the second half, but the Tritons finished the remainder of
the half on a 13-11 run, cutting the Tars eventual lead to
64-50.

Tars leading scorer Joslyn Giles
(Winter Haven, Fla.) scored 13 points
and grabbed a game high 10 rebounds while the Tars two starting
guards senior Sally Johnston (Winter Springs, Fla.) and sophomore Jennifer Musgrove (Palm Bay, Fla.) contributed seven rebounds apiece
and 11 and 10 points respectively. On the Tritons side senior
Chimene Gordon added 11 points, while senior forward Brett Stone
had a team high three assists.

The
Tars will next be in action on Wednesday, January 11, as they
travel to Lakeland, Fla. to take on the Moccasins of Florida
Southern College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
