A native of Sheffield, England, Luke began his soccer career as an academy player at Sheffield Wednesday, before making his senior squad debut with the club in 2006.  Boden also spent time at Chesterfield, Rushden & Diamonds, and Northampton Town.

In 2011 Boden came to the United States and joined Orlando City in the USL Pro League.  He played with the club until 2016, staying on board during the team's ascension from USL to MLS competition.  Boden played in 87 USL Pro games for the Lions, earning Team of the Season Honors in 2014.  He saw time in 45 MLS games with the club.  Most recently Boden took his talents down I-4, playing with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the 2017 season.
