MELBOURNE, Fla. (December 4, 2017) – Rollins junior shot-blocking specialist Carly McLendon was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday. The award is her second of the season and seventh of her career.
The reigning Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year picked up right where she left off over the first month of the season.
In two games last week, the Sanford native tallied 15 rebounds, seven blocks and three steals on the defensive end to go along with 19 points and three assists on offense. In a match-up of nationally ranked teams, she led the Tars to a 66-60 victory over Embry-Riddle, grabbing 10 defensive rebounds with three blocks and two steals. Three days later at Barry she racked up four more blocks and a steal in the Tars 78-60 setback.
McLendon leads the SSC and ranks 11th in the nation with 2.9 blocks per game while topping the league with 9.6 rebounds a night.
