GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 13, 2018) – Rollins freshman Alex Norcini is set for a busy weekend at the NCAA Division II National Championships, March 14-17 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The versatile, Georgia native will swim four individual events; the 200 IM (Wed.), 400 IM (Thurs.), 500 Free (Fri.) and 1650 Free (Sat.).
"Alex has worked very hard this season and we are excited to see what he can do at National's," said second-year head coach Kyle Berg. "He is coming off some great swims at the very fast conference meet and will look to keep dropping his times this week."
Norcini is seeded 36th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.64 and 19th in the 400 IM, posting a 3:55.39. He is 25th in the 500 freestyle (4:29.85) and 25th in the 1650 freestyle (15:43.89).
Prelims are slated to start at 10 a.m. each day with the finals at 6 p.m.
Norcini set five individual and one relay school record in his breakout freshman season. He is just the second Rollins male swimmer to qualify for the NCAA National Championship, following Kamel Tejeda, who participated in 2009 and 2010.
