PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (May 14, 2018) – The Rollins men's rowing team closed its season Saturday at the 2018 Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
The Tars put one boat in the water for the championship, competing in the Novice 4. The crew of Lorenzo Romano, Michael Pakuris, Connor Stolp, Jonathan Taylor and Rebecca Ngo struggled in the time trials on Friday, posting the 15th fastest time and advancing to the petite finals.
Going in with something to prove, and Rollins did just that – taking first and beating Grand Valley State by 1.2 seconds. The Tars and Lakers were neck and neck the entire way down the course with the Winter Park boat making a last push and holding off GVSU down to the line.
Minnesota was third, more than 10 seconds behind the Tars, followed by LaSalle, SUNY Geneseo and Michigan.
Dad Vail's concludes the 2018 spring racing season, and with just three seniors moving on, the future remains bright for the program.
